The kids aren't alright.

Well well, its amazing what a few AI games can do for you.

There I was minding my own business (i.e. not playing FML) when i get a load of AI resolve emails into my inbox. Seems the AI is much better at the game than I am. It managed to secure a rash of Under-21 wins for me and propel me into the NFA Youth League top 4.

Great I thought. Best get back there and reduce my AI % a little. So i logged back on last night and presided over my youth team shipping 18 goals in 3 matches. Two of them were 8-0 defeats. There were a rash of sending off's in the 8-0 defeats though, so I am blaming that.

The seniors have started better than usual. This season I am sat in a top half position which isnt normal for me. Perhaps the boys can keep it up and we might secure a UFFA place. Doubt it though.

Long Time, No Blogging!!

Its been a hectic couple of weeks both in FM Live and in the real world (what's that?).

First of all we had a mad rush of users into GW4, almost 500 in total and still they are trickling in. This led to huge rush to get ready for the new season, get people into federations, give them beta forum access and myriad of other problems too. This was made more difficult by the influx of users casuing some serious lag issues too.

This wasnt helped by the sale of Leeds Festival tickets clashing with start of the GW4 season. Unfortunately i had to spend that night pressing refresh on the SeeTickets website. Only slightly less interesting that waiting for the FM Live to respond to a simple mouse click.

Anyway, I got my tickets and the WFA started only 1 day late, so all went well.

Add this to a financial year end at work and ive pretty much been AWOL since the start of month.

What happened to my rank?

Written by Unknown on 16:40

I sat just on the edge of the topm 100 over a week ago. With the busy close season kicking in, server log in issue and basically not being able to devote much time i expected my rank to sit reasonably steady.

How wrong could i be?

I recieved a logged in on Thursday to find myself languishing at 188th in the Rankings. Frankly I havent got a clue how i ended up this low. I did lose my last 4 NFA Super League games but i wouldnt i expect such a mssive fall from 4 defeats.

All was not lost though. Nine wins from 11 games yesterday has corrected the dip in rankings. I rose 77 places on the back of that and hopefully regained some momentum again.

I have also been actively looking for some good youth to replace the players that left at the end of the season. Although with all the new players it is an active transfer market at present.

Yo-yo club

Written by Unknown on 09:01

It seems the Spearmint Nightmares have got themselves stuck between 68th and 90th in the world rankings. A day of good performances is being followed by a mediocre days causing our ranking to yo-yo between those two markers.

Some excellent result earlier in the week against FC Coa FC and LDM FC sent the team to record high of 68th, but some less than impressive performances against the AI, including a dubious 10-man comeback by it from 3-1 down to win 4-3, have left us currently sat in 89th.

However, things good things are afoot at Nabootique. I have targeted a new striker to partner Gerson Holanda and hope to sign him next week. Then we have some contract expiries coming up which should free up wages for a centre back. I only hope the influx of players releases my transfer target into the game world.

Of course there will be lots of newbies to thrash soon too, which can only be a good thing.

Release Date and Monthly Charge Rumours

Written by Unknown on 17:41

Many websites are claiming that the release date of Football Manager Live will be in March. I can categorically state that this will not be the case. Beta Testing is still on-going and new builds are being released on a regular basis.

Marc Duffy recently stated that a tentative release date is pencilled in for early summer. You can read that as June at the earliest. This I think is fairly realistic, the game is definitely coming together and with a few more months of development and testing it will certainly be ready for retail.

Now for the price. There is still no monthly fee announced, but I would expect somewhere in the region of £5-£10. I can reveal that client will be available free, yes you heard me, free. This is excellent news as it allows people to subscribe without having to pay for the software as well.

Finally, you should expect to hear announcements on release date and price in the near future. I have it on good authority that the Sports Interactive marketing machine is being dusted down as we speak.

Spearmint Nightmares on the up

Written by Unknown on 09:41

After being seemingly stuck somewhere between 100 and 150 in the rankings, the boys have finally pushed their way into the upper reaches of game hierarchy.

Thanks largely in part to some good results against high ranked side over the last 2 days, they now find themselves sitting proud in 70th place. The up turn in fortunes seems to have coincided with some excellent form in the Bye From Richie competition.

The move of almost 50 places in the rankings in the last two days was made all the more sweeter by the fact that fellow game world 4 moderator Nik Reeves' team his headed in the opposite direction and teeters just inside the top 100.

Here's hoping this excellent run of form can continue.
